Excellence,........ I can reach for. " Perfection is God's Business"................WB.
Warren Buffet
There was a one hour interview on CNBC recently with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:
1. He bought his first share aged 11, and he now regrets that he started too late!
2.. He bought a small farm aged 14, with savings from delivering newspapers.
3.. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. Out side of His house does not have a wall or a fence.
4 . He drives his own car, everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.
5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.
6.. His company," Berkshire Hathaway", owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO's only two rules.
Rule number 1:" Do not lose any of your shareholder's money".
Rule number 2:" Do not forget-The rule number 1".
7. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His pass time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch TV.
8. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for "half hour".
But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for "Ten hours" and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.
9. Warren Buffet does not carry a 'cell phone', nor has a computer on his desk.
His advice to young people:
"Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and Remember: -
A. Money doesn't create a man; it is the Man who created money.
B. Live your life as simple as you are.
C. Don't do what others say, just listen to them. But," Do what you feel good."
D. Don't go for a brand name; just wear those things in which you feel comfortable.
E. Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; Just spend on "Those who really are in need".
F. After all it's your life..., so why give the chance to others to rule your life."

One lady's handbag which contained her mobile, credit card,purse.. .etc....was stolen. 20 minutes later when she called her hubby, telling him what happened. Husband says, "I've just received your SMS asking about your Pinnumber. And I've replied a little while ago". When they rushed down to the bank. Bank staff told them all the money was alreadywithdrawn. The pickpocket had actually used the stolen hand phone to sms"hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 mins hehad withdrawn all the money from the bank account. Moral: Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people inyour contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, sweetheart, Jaanu, Dad, Mum etc..................and very importantly, when sensitive infois being asked thru SMS, CONFIRM by calling back . Forward this toall your well wishers, so that they'll be careful too must read it canhappen with anyone.....

Scientists at the Rocket launching station in Thumba were in the habit of working for nearly 12 to 18 hours a day. There were about Seventy such scientists working on a project. All the scientists were really frustrated due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job. One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I have promised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5 30 pm. His boss replied - O K, , You are permitted to leave the office early today. The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The time was 8.30 p.m Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children. He looked for his boss,, He was not there. Having told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left for home. Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having disappointed his children. He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was explosive, any talk would boomerang on him. His wife asked him - Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight away serve dinner if you are hungry. The man replied - If you would like to have coffee, I too will have but what about Children??? Wife replied- You don't know - Your manager came at 5 15 p.m and has taken the children to the exhibition. What had really happened was the boss who granted him permission was observing him working seriously at 5.00 p.m. He thought to himself, this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they should enjoy the visit to exhibition. So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition The boss does not have to do it every time. But once it is done, loyalty is established. That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under their boss even though the stress was tremendous. By the way, can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was???????? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . He was A P J Abdul Kalam.

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in High School by telling them the difference each of them had made. She called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First, she told each of them how they had made a difference to her, and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon, imprinted with gold letters, which read, "Who I Am Makes a Difference." Afterwards, the teacher decided to do a class project, to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a Community. She gave each of the students three more blue ribbons, and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom, and report!back to the class in about a week.
One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby Company, and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He gave him a blue ribbon, and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him two extra ribbons and said, "We're doing a class project on recognition, and we'd like for you to go out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a third person, to keep this acknowledgment ceremony going. Then please report!back to me and tell me what happened."
Later that day, the junior executive went in to see his boss, who had been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his boss down, and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a creative genius. The boss seemed very surprised. The junior executive asked him if he would accept the gift of the blue ribbon, and would he give him permission to put it on him. His surprised boss said, "Well, sure." The junior executive took the blue ribbon and placed it right on his boss's jacket, above his heart. As he gave him the last extra ribbon, he said, "Would you take this extra ribbon, and pass it on by honoring somebody else. The young boy who first gave me the ribbons is doing a project in school, and we want to keep this recognition ceremony going and find out how it affects people."
That night, the boss came home to his 14-year-old son, and sat him down. He said, "The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my office, and one of the junior executives came in and told me he admired me, and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius. Imagine! He thinks I'm a creative genius! Then he put this blue ribbon that says, "Who I Am Makes a Difference", on my jacket above my heart. He gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor. As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with this ribbon, and I thought about you. I want to honor you. My days are really hectic and when I come home, I don't pay lot of attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough grades in school, and for your bedroom being a mess. But somehow tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a difference to me. Besides your mother, you are the most important person in my life. You're a great kid, and I love you!"
The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he couldn't stop crying. His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and said through his tears, "Dad, earlier tonight I sat in my room and wrote a letter to you and Mom, explaining why I had killed myself, and I asked you to forgive me. I was going to commit suicide tonight after you were asleep. I just didn't think that you cared at all. The letter is upstairs. I don't think I need it after all."
His father walked upstairs and found a heartfelt letter full of anguish and pain. The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch, but made sure to let all of his employees know that they made a difference. The junior executive helped several other young people with career planning, and never forgot to let them know that they made a difference in his life......one being the boss' son.
And the young boy and his classmates learned a valuable lesson, "Who you are DOES make a difference".
You are under no obligation to pass this on to anyone, not to two people, or to two hundred.
You can forget it and move on. On the other hand, if you want, you could send it to all of the people who mean something to you, or send it to the one, two, or three people who mean the most. Or, just smile and know that someone thinks that you are important, or you wouldn't have received this in the first place.
Who you are does make a difference, and I wanted you to know that.
I'm passing the blue ribbon to you, for Who YOU are does make a difference.

Be Careful At the Indian Airports, This is a well-organized conspiracy byIndian Immigration, Police, Customs and Air India staff with networking atall the Indian International Airports. Be watchful whenever you give yourpassport to Immigration/ Customs/Air **India** staff. The passport can be easily tampered and can create trouble to you. They have found easy way ofmaking money from NRIs. This is the way it works. At the time of thepassenger's departure, if the passenger is not looking at the officer while he is stamping the exit, the officer very cleverly tears away one of thepage from the passport. When the passenger leaves the immigration counter, the case is reported on his computer terminal with full details. Now all over **India** they have got full details of the passenger with Red Flagflashing on the Passport number entered by the departure immigrationofficer. They have made their money by doing above. On arrival next time, he is interrogated. Subject to the passenger's period of stay abroad, hisincome and standing etc., the price to get rid of the problem is settled bythe Police and Immigration people. If someone argues, his future is spoiled because there are always some innocent fellows who think the honesty is thebasis of getting justice in **India** . Which is wrong...Please advise every
passenger to be careful at the airport. Whenever they hand over the passport to the counters of **Air India** , or immigration or the customs, theymust be vigilant, should not remove eyes from the passport even if theofficer in front tries to divert their attention. Also, please pass this information to all friends, media men and important politicians. Everymonth 20-30 cases are happening all over **India** to rob the NRIs theminutehe lands. Similar case has happened with Armco¢s Arifuddin. He was traveling with his family. They had six passports. They got the visa ofAmerica and decided to go via **Hyderabad** from **Jeddah**. They reached **Hyderabad**.. Stayed about a month and left for the States. When they reached the States, the page of the American visa on his wife's passport was missing. At the time of departure from **Hyderabad** it was there, the whole familyhadto return to **Hyderabad** helplessly. On arrival at **Bombay** back, the policecaught them and now it is over 2 months, they are running after the Police,Immigration officers and the Courts. On going in to details with him, hefound out the following: One cannot imagine, neither can believe, that the Indian Immigration dept can play such a nasty game to harass the innocentpassengers. ** **All the passengers traveling to & from **India** via Bombay and**Hyderabad** must be aware of this conspiracy. Every month 15 to 20 cases aretaking place, at each mentioned airport, of holding the passengers in thecrime of tearing away the passport pages. On interviewing some of them, none of them was aware of what had happened. They don't know why, when and who tore away the page from the middle of the passport. One can imagine thesufferings of such people at the hands of the immigration, police and thecourt procedures in **India** after that. The number of cases is increasing inthe last 2-3 years. People who are arriving at the immigration, they arequestioned and their passports are being held and they have to go ininterrogations. Obviously, the conspiracy started about 2 to 3 years ago, now the results are coming. Some of the Air India counter staff too isinvolved in this conspiracy.*
*KINDLY SEND THIS TO AS MANY AS YOUR FRIENDS ACROSS THE WORLD **AND ALSO REQUEST THEM TO CHECK THE PASSPORT AT THE CHECKING COUNTERS * *AND BEFORE LEAVING THE AIRPORT*.

Four Words that Make Life Worthwhile
Over the years as I've sought out ideas, principles and strategies to life's challenges, I've come across four simple words that can make living worthwhile.
First, life is worthwhile if you LEARN. What you don't know WILL hurt you. You have to have learning to exist, let alone succeed. Life is worthwhile if you learn from your own experiences - negative or positive. We learn to do it right by first sometimes doing it wrong. We call that a positive negative. We also learn from other people's experiences, both positive and negative. I've always said that it is too bad failures don't give seminars. Obviously, we don't want to pay them so they aren't usually touring around giving seminars. But that information would be very valuable – we would learn how someone who had it all then messed it up. Learning from other people's experiences and mistakes is valuable information because we can learn what not to do without the pain of having tried and failed ourselves.
We learn by what we see so pay attention. We learn by what we hear so be a good listener. Now I do suggest that you should be a selective listener, don't just let anybody dump into your mental factory. We learn from what we read so learn from every source; learn from lectures; learn from songs; learn from sermons; learn from conversations with people who care. Always keep learning.
Second, life is worthwhile if you TRY. You can't just learn; now you have to try something to see if you can do it. Try to make a difference, try to make some progress, try to learn a new skill, try to learn a new sport. It doesn't mean you can do everything, but there are a lot of things you can do, if you just try. Try your best. Give it every effort. Why not go all out?
Third, life is worthwhile if you STAY. You have to stay from spring until harvest. If you have signed up for the day or for the game or for the project - see it through. Sometimes calamity comes and then it is worth wrapping it up. And that's the end, but just don't end in the middle. Maybe on the next project you pass, but on this one, if you signed up, see it through.
And lastly, life is worthwhile if you CARE. If you care at all you will get some results, if you care enough you can get incredible results. Care enough to make a difference. Care enough to turn somebody around. Care enough to start a new enterprise. Care enough to change it all. Care enough to be the highest producer. Care enough to set some records. Care enough to win.
Four powerful little words: learn, try, stay and care. What difference can you make in your life today by putting these words to work?

Never, ever answer a cell phone while it is being RECHARGED!! A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home. Just at that time a call Came in and he answered it with the instrument still connected to the outlet. After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, &nb sp; with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers. He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument! of death. Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet! FORWARD THIS TO THE PEOPLE THAT MATTER I N YOU R LIFE,

Please read the following though it is long but worth it.
Read it and ponder on all points of the speech…
Dear friends , I am proud to forward this speech...... ......... ......... .... I am sure you will agree with every suggestion he has made........ ........... *Please read this article by giving 10 minutes from your busy life. Really good.... ** * * The President of India DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam 's Speech in Hyderabad ... *Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice.Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters. Iwas in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the dayafter a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. TheHamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of aJewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in thenewspaper, buried among other news.In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreignthings? We want foreign T. Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India . For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. Indiais not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation. Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice isyours.YOU say that our government is inefficient.YOU say that our laws are too old. YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage. YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke,The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits. YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?Take a person on his way to Singapore ... Give him a name - YOURS. Give him aface - YOURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of MahimCauseway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity... In Singapore youdon't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai ... YOU would not dare to go out without your head coveredin Jeddah . YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop,'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and NewZealand .Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be thesame here in India ?Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay , Mr.Tinaikar , had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he said. 'And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame theauthorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job.Same in Japan ... Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage allover the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food andtoiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related towomen, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego mysons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system? What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and thegovernment. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away. Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run toEngland ... When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a greatdeal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too.... I am echoing J. F. Kennedy 's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians..... 'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIAAND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY' Lets do what India needs from us.Forward this mail to each Indian for a change instead of sending Jokes or junk mails.Thank you,Dr. Abdul Kalaam I humbly request you to forward this to every Indian...... ......... ........... .....

The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room.
Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement.
As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it.
When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied,
'Things aren't always what they seem.'
The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife.
After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest.
When the sun cameup the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears.
Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen?
The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused.
The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.
'Things aren't always what they seem,' the older angel replied.
'When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall..
Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.'
'Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead.
Things aren't always what they seem.'
Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every out come is always to your advantage. You just might not know it until some time later... Oooo Some people ( ) come into our lives ) / and quickly go... (_/

A team of organized criminals are installing equipment on legitimate bank ATM's in at least 2 regions to steal both the ATM card number and the PIN. The team sits nearby in a car receiving the information transmitted wirelessly over weekends and evenings from equipment they install on the front of the ATM (see photos). If you see an attachment like this, do not use the ATM and report it immediately to the bank using the phone on the front of the ATM. The equipment used to capture your ATM card number and PIN are cleverly disguised to look like normal ATM equipment. A "skimmer" is mounted to the front of the normal ATM card slot that reads the ATM card number and transmits it to the criminals sitting in a nearby car. At the same time, a wireless camera is disguised to look like a leaflet holder and is mounted in a position to view ATM PIN entries. The thieves copy the cards and use the PIN numbers to withdraw thousands from many accounts in a very short time directly from the bank ATM.
Equipment being installed on front of existing bank card slot.
The equipment as it appears installed over the normal ATM bank slot.
The PIN reading camera being installed on the ATM is housed in an innocent looking leaflet enclosure.
The camera shown installed and ready to capture PIN's by looking down on the keypad as you enter your PIN

Dear Friends!Petrol in Pakistan Rs17 per lit re Malaysia Rs 18 per litre In India it's 48 per litr Why this difference in Asia itself? World Market CRUDE Oil is not the reason for this. It's all Gain for private owners? As we are the general public, or Common Man as R.K.Laxman wud hv said, we have to raise our voice, let's raise thru Emails. Forward this to all Indians who care. IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES. THEREFORE "TUESDAY January 22nd" HAS BEEN DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY. THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH AFFECTSPRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOURCALENDARS AND MAKE jan 22nd A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" We forward so many junk email to many of our friends, now let us do it for some useful cause to cut down the price of the petrol......REMEMBER : JAN 22nd 2008

Self confidence tips..
Everybody needs a confidence boost sometimes, so here are a fewtips...[These self confidence tips come from Roger Elliott] 1) Feel Good when you WantWhen you need to boost your self confidence or self esteem, find 3things that make you feel good. These could be memories of goodtimes, a piece of music, a holiday souvenir, or a person's face - usephotos if it helps. Practise thinking about them and bringing them tomind.Developing self confidence that lasts - because of the wayemotions 'attach' themselves to memories, you will quickly trainyourself to feel good when you want - a great help.2) Beat Self ConsciousnessSelf consciousness is the No.1 enemy of self confidence. Learn how tokeep your attention off yourself. You can do this easily by followingthese steps...a) If you notice you have become self-conscious, (you can usuallytell because you start to feel anxious), choose something 'everyday'you can see and study it in detail. For example: examine a door, lookat the different textures and shades of colour, wonder about who madeit and how and so on. The important thing is that you're learning howto keep your attention off yourself.b) If you feel self-conscious in a social situation, it's usuallybecause you don't have enough to do! Focus on what your purpose inthe situation is. Whether you're there to:find out if you like the other people in the situationmake others feel comfortablefind out some informationmake business contactsand so on...It's easy to feel self-conscious if you have nothing to do, and muchmore difficult if your attention is occupied by a task.Think how comfortable you have been with others when you're allworking toward a common goal. The common goal of socialising could bemaking friends, it could be the exchange of mutually beneficialinformation, it could be whatever you want it to be!3) Don't Take Undue Criticism - Even From Yourself !Challenge your own assumptions. Here's a few to get you started:a) Confident-looking people have bad moments too.b) Just because you feel under-confident, doesn't mean other people can tell..c) If you're saying things to yourself like "You're no good atanything" then rest assured, you're wrong. Everyone can compose asentence, get successfully to the store, eat without choking. Don'tlet yourself make sweeping statements about yourself - in the longrun it is this sort of thing that can really damage your self image.Building self esteem is not just about thinking good of yourself,it's about not thinking bad for no reason!d) Just because you have felt bad about yourself in the past doesn'tmean you're always going to feel

Metaphors and LifeMetaphors can help us understand life. A metaphor compares dissimilarthings on the basis of some underlying commonality. A new insight orbroadened understanding is created.Metaphors belong to the larger class of symbols. The word symbolcomes from two Greek root words meaning "to throw" and "together."The word symbol therefore means "to throw together." This is what asymbol does. When you cannot say what something is, you can say whatit is like. A symbol throws together a subject that is not understoodwith an image that is understood in an attempt to throw light on thesubject. It compares or throws together one thing that we dounderstand with something we do not understand in order to help usunderstand the thing that we do not understand. (Now, do youunderstand?) Symbols take us from a concrete, surface level ofunderstanding to a greater depth of meaning. Metaphors do the same.Life is like...Thinking of life as a journey, is a metaphor. We can think of life'sjourney in many different ways. From our beginning life is taking usto a destination with challenging adventures along the way. Life maybe seen as an ocean voyage across unknown depths where stormsoccasionally toss us about as we seek the safety of calm shores. Anold bluegrass song tells us that life is like journeying on amountain railway with hills, tunnels, dangerous curves and the need of a brave engineer.

Ability is to look at a blank page,And create a poem.Ability is to stare into the eyes of fear,And come out stronger because of it.Ability is to walk into a room of strangers,And come out with friends.Ability is to admit you are wrong,When you are wrong.Ability is to get back up,When you fall down.Ability is to believe,When everything seems lost.Ability - a simple word, with a complex meaning. For many, ability is never found, but for all ability is within.Ability stares everyone in the face at one time or another.Whether your ability is how well you shoot hoops,How well you flip at dancing,How smart you are at school. You have ability. For some, ability is lost by never trying.Whether never trying to shoot one more time,Never trying to bend a little more,Or never trying to score higher in school.Ability is within.Ability is yours.

CLEARING THE CAT and CET and getting through a good institute for MBA is the dream of most students these days. As they say, “it is not easy to bell the cat” and when aspiring students fail to get the qualifying marks, they look at other means of admissions. The easiest is to convince their parents to pay money and buy a seat for them.
The amount to be paid varies from college to college. The paid seats could exceed Rs 13 lakh, and this does not include the regular fee, which is Rs 2.5 lakh in some colleges and around Rs 4 lakh for one year in others. Some colleges reserve around 260 seats for merit students and the remaining 200 seats are up for sale. Less reputed colleges also ask for Rs 5 to Rs 8 lakh as donation.
Even after paying a huge sum of money, there is no guarantee that the student will get admission. Parents desperate to get their children admitted are often cheated by people who claim that they can guarantee admission if a certain amount of money is paid to them. At times, they are beaten in this race by NRIs, as they can offer more money to the colleges.
Such practices show the extent to which our education system has deteriorated. Education is up for sale and money matters more than merit. It is disheartening to note that even though everyone is aware of these practices, no action is taken against to stop this malpractice.
